Jetons

Jetons were a mostly European phenomenon of the 15th through 19th centuries, used to handle transactions in counting houses, which were businesses that made calculations and exchanges in the ridiculously complicated currency systems they were using. There were official jetons and private jetons, and private copies of officials.
