One of my antiquarian clients says I’m dreaming, but this makes me think of African currency rods; break off a piece when you need it to do the deal.

In ancient times nomads roamed across the Asian steppes, working with or against the settled agriculturalists they coexisted with. Sarmations and Scythians were both horse nomad peoples, who came late to coinage.

Over the decades I’ve been selling collectibles my market has been about 97% coins, 2% paper money, 1% everything else.
