Father Coughlin was part of the political churn of the 1930s. Back then a case was being made for naked hatred, he was a significant contributor to that kind of anxiety producing behavior.

We got into award medals because we thought they are inherently interesting, and a lot of them look nice too. From that came related items: insignia, uniform parts, related documents, tools, etc. Started out with militaria, quickly expanded to any organization that gave out things that could be pinned on one’s coat, and related things.
